Indigo Sashiko 12.5 oz from Naked & Famous
A textile masterpiece, inspired by Japanese heritage and built to last
With Indigo Sashiko 12.5 oz, Naked & Famous introduces a pair of jeans that bring together ancient traditions and modern textile art. The fabric is inspired by Sashiko – a Japanese sewing technique developed during the Edo period, where small, dense stitches were used to reinforce and extend the life of everyday clothing. This spirit lives on in a soft yet durable 12.5 oz Japanese twill, woven on a jacquard loom to recreate Sashiko’s signature raised structure.
Both the warp and weft of the fabric are rope-dyed indigo – a method where the threads are given a dark blue surface, while the core remains white. As the jeans are worn, the highest stitches wear out first, revealing lighter tones beneath the surface. This creates a deeply layered, vibrant fade that enhances the fabric’s texture and expression. Even without the selvedge, the fabric has a distinctive character that speaks for itself.
Made from 100% cotton, Indigo Sashiko is sewn in Canada with French seams for a clean and timeless look. The jeans are equipped with black, non-reflective buttons and rivets, and have a classic button fly. The dark blue genuine leather patch gives the jeans an exclusive touch, in perfect harmony with the deep indigo of the fabric.
These are not just any jeans. They are a garment for those who appreciate true craftsmanship, natural aging and textiles with soul. A pair of jeans that age beautifully – and that carry with them both history and your own everyday life, thread by thread.
