The Wide Pant from EDWIN is a classic selvedge jean made from Japanese denim from the renowned Kaihara Denim Mill . The fabric is woven on traditional shuttle looms, a method that produces the characteristic selvedge edge and a dense, durable denim fabric that develops distinct fades over time.

The denim weighs 13.5oz, making it a medium weight denim compared to classic raw denim. The fabric is made from 100% cotton and will gradually mold to the body through use, while retaining the structure that characterizes quality Japanese denim.

The Wide Pant fit features a roomy top block with a higher waist, ample thigh room and straight, wide legs, resulting in a modern silhouette inspired by classic workwear jeans and '90s denim tradition.

The denim fabric is woven in Japan by Kaihara, while the jeans are produced in Tunisia.

About denim fabric

These jeans are made from 13.5oz Kaihara Dark Pure Indigo Rainbow Selvedge, a classic Japanese denim developed by Kaihara, one of Japan's most respected denim weavers.

The warp yarn is rope dyed in pure indigo. This means that the color only penetrates the outer layer of the yarn, while the core remains light. As the jeans are worn and worn, the indigo gradually breaks down, creating contrasting fades.

The weft yarn is unbleached natural cotton, which gives the fabric a warm tone and highlights the classic denim character.

The denim is woven in a traditional right hand twill. This twill direction gives a distinct diagonal structure to the fabric and causes the jeans to develop deep, pronounced wear patterns over time.

A distinctive feature of this model is the rainbow selvedge ID – a multi-coloured selvedge edge that can only be achieved through shuttle loom weaving, which gives a subtle but distinctive touch when the cuff is folded up.

The combination of Kaihara's precise weaving technique, pure indigo dyeing and classic twill makes this a denim that both ages beautifully and keeps its shape through many years of use.
