Summer Sky Selvedge from Naked & Famous Denim is a lightweight Japanese selvedge jeans inspired by the bright blue denim color that was common in the 1960s . At this time, many jeans were already well-worn and washed, giving them a characteristic light indigo tone.

This model recreates this expression in the form of raw selvedge denim , but in a lighter indigo than traditional raw denim. The result is jeans with a distinct vintage feel that also develops subtle fades over time.

The denim weighs 10oz , making it a lightweight raw denim. The low weight makes the fabric particularly well-suited for warmer temperatures and summer wear .

The denim fabric is woven in Japan, while the jeans are cut and sewn in Canada.

About denim fabric

Summer Sky Selvedge is designed to recreate the characteristic pale blue tone of vintage denim . Unlike most raw denim fabrics, where the yarn is dipped in indigo dye multiple times to achieve a dark color, the yarn in this denim is dipped in the dye bath only a few times .

This gives a lighter indigo from the start. The fabric will still fade through use, but the fades will be more subtle and with lower contrast than on dark raw denim.

The denim is woven on traditional shuttle looms, giving it the characteristic red line selvedge edge . Together with an English tan leather patch, this gives the jeans a distinctly vintage look.

The low weight of 10oz makes the fabric more breathable and flexible than heavier denim qualities, making the jeans ideal for use in warm weather.
