About denim fabric

Kawataro Selvedge is a 14.5oz Japanese selvedge denim inspired by Kawataro, also known as Kappa , the mischievous river god from Japanese folklore.

The fabric is woven with low-tension weaving and irregular slub yarns , which gives a distinctly uneven and vibrant texture to the surface. The yarns are rope-dyed in indigo , and due to the uneven yarn structure, the fibers absorb the dye to varying degrees.

As the fabric wears through use, it will produce a wide range of indigo tones and distinct, three-dimensional fades. The result is denim that develops high contrast and depth in wear over time.
