The 1944 USN Watch Cap from Pike Brothers is a classic knit hat inspired by the headgear worn by US Navy crewmen during World War II. The hat is based on an original from the Pike Brothers archive and follows the same specifications as the historic models from the 1940s.
The watch cap was the standard headgear for sailors at sea, and its simple construction in heavy wool made it ideal for cold and windy weather. The cap could be folded up once or twice to adjust the fit and protect the ears from the cold. Its compact shape also made it easy to wear under a helmet or hood.
This reproduction is knitted from 100% merino wool , a material that provides good insulation while also being breathable. The result is a warm, durable and timeless hat that works equally well in everyday life as with classic workwear.
