KAWATARO SELVEDGE - Weird Guy 14.5 oz

Weird Guy from Naked & Famous is a classic selvedge jean made from Japanese denim, woven on traditional shuttle looms. This production method produces the distinctive selvedge edge and a dense, durable denim that develops distinct fades over time.

The denim weighs 14.5oz, making it medium to medium-heavy compared to classic raw denim. The fabric is made from 100% cotton and will gradually mold to your body with use.

The Weird Guy fit has a medium rise, standard thigh space and a moderate taper from knee to leg opening. The result is a classic regular tapered silhouette inspired by traditional workwear jeans.

The denim fabric is woven in Japan, while the jeans are cut and sewn in Canada.

About denim fabric

Kawataro Selvedge is a 14.5oz Japanese selvedge denim inspired by Kawataro , also known as Kappa – the mischievous river god from Japanese folklore.

The fabric is woven with low-tension weaving and irregular slub yarns , which creates a distinctly uneven and vibrant texture on the surface. This construction gives the denim a more three-dimensional character than smooth denim.

The yarn is rope-dyed in indigo , and due to the uneven yarn structure, the fibers absorb the dye unevenly. When the jeans are worn over time, this will produce a wide range of indigo tones and pronounced, three-dimensional fades.

The denim also has a subtle green cast , which gives a vintage feel as the color breaks down through use.
