KAWATARO SELVEDGE - True Guy 14.5 oz

The True Guy from Naked & Famous is a classic selvedge jean made from Japanese denim, woven on traditional shuttle looms. This production method produces the distinctive selvedge edge and a dense, durable denim that develops distinct fades over time.

The denim weighs 14.5oz, making it medium to medium-heavy compared to classic raw denim. The fabric is made from 100% cotton and will gradually mold to your body with use.

The True Guy fit has a medium rise, plenty of room in the seat and thighs, and a straight leg from knee to leg opening. The result is a classic straight fit inspired by traditional workwear jeans.

The denim fabric is woven in Japan, while the jeans are cut and sewn in Canada.

About denim fabric

Kawataro Selvedge is a 14.5oz Japanese selvedge denim inspired by Kawataro , also known as Kappa – the mischievous river god from Japanese folklore.

The fabric is woven with low-tension weaving and irregular slub yarns , which gives a distinctly uneven and vibrant texture to the surface. This construction makes the denim more three-dimensional and gives a more organic look than classic smooth denim.

The yarn is rope-dyed in indigo , and the uneven fibers absorb the dye to varying degrees. When the jeans are worn and washed, this will create marked contrasts and a characteristic three-dimensional fading.

The color has a slight green cast that gives the denim a classic vintage feel as it breaks down through use.
