ELEPHANT 14 Dirty Elephant - Denim Jacket 20 oz

The Denim Jacket from Naked & Famous is a classic trucker-inspired denim jacket made from Japanese selvedge denim, woven on traditional shuttle looms. This production method produces a dense, robust denim with a distinctive selvedge edge and high durability.

The jacket is made from Elephant 14 – also known as Dirty Elephant – a 20oz super heavyweight Japanese selvedge denim. The fabric combines the extreme weight of Naked & Famous's iconic Elephant series with the character of Dirty Fade Selvedge.

The jacket is constructed in a classic Type III-inspired trucker silhouette with flap chest pockets, slanted hand pockets and inner pockets. The fit is comfortable in the chest and arms, so the jacket can be worn both as an outer layer and over thicker garments.

The denim fabric is woven in Japan, while the jacket is cut and sewn in Canada.

About denim fabric

Elephant 14 is a 20oz super heavyweight selvedge denim , a weight that is far above traditional denim in jackets, which is often around 12–14oz.

The warp yarn is rope-dyed in indigo , but originally spun from natural dusty brown cotton. As the jacket is worn, the indigo will gradually wear away, revealing the earthy cotton underneath. This gives the characteristic “dirty fade” that has given the fabric the name Dirty Elephant.

The heavy weight gives the fabric a stiff and structural feel when the jacket is new. Over time, it will soften, mold to the body and develop distinct contrasts in folds and wear spots.
