COFFEE DYE SELVEDGE - True Guy 12.5 oz

The True Guy from Naked & Famous is a classic selvedge jean made from Japanese denim, woven on traditional shuttle looms. This production method produces the distinctive selvedge edge and a dense, durable denim that develops distinct fades over time.

The denim weighs 12.5oz, making it light to medium compared to classic raw denim. The fabric is made of 100% cotton and will gradually mold to the body with use.

The True Guy fit has a medium rise, plenty of room in the seat and thighs, and a straight leg from knee to leg opening. The result is a classic straight fit inspired by traditional workwear jeans.

The denim fabric is woven in Japan, while the jeans are cut and sewn in Canada.

About denim fabric

Coffee Dye Selvedge is a 12.5oz Japanese selvedge denim that combines classic indigo rope-dyed warp with an unusual dyeing method in the weft. The horizontal thread in the fabric is dyed using a solution made from real Japanese medium-roast coffee beans .

The result is denim with a subtle warm and earthy undertone hidden beneath the indigo. As the jeans are worn and the color wears down, the brown coffee weft threads will gradually become more visible, adding extra depth and character to the fades.

The idea for the fabric actually came about by chance during a meeting with the factory in Japan, when coffee was spilled on a piece of untreated denim. The incident inspired experimentation with coffee as a dye in production.
