1944 N1 DECK JACKET - Waxed Khaki

The 1944 N1 Deck Jacket from Pike Brothers is a reproduction of the classic US Navy N-1 Deck Jacket from World War II. The jacket was developed for sailors working on the decks of ships, where clothing had to protect against wind, sea spray and low temperatures.

Introduced in 1943, the N-1 model quickly became the standard jacket in the U.S. Navy. It was used from Normandy to the Pacific , and became one of the most popular military jackets of the period.

This version from Pike Brothers is made from waxed jungle cloth , a heavy-duty cotton that has been treated with wax for better weather protection. The result is a robust jacket that can withstand wind, cold and light rain.

About jungle cloth

The outer fabric is made from tightly woven jungle cloth in 100% cotton , a material developed for military workwear in the 1930s and 1940s. The fabric is known for being both highly durable and naturally windproof.

In this model, the fabric is treated with three layers of wax , which makes the jacket highly water-repellent and gives the material a characteristic surface. Over time, the wax treatment will develop a distinct patina as the jacket is worn.

On the inside, the jacket has a thick woven wool lining , which provides high thermal insulation while the material transports moisture away from the body. The combination of jungle cloth and wool makes the jacket well suited for cold and damp weather.
